市面上流传的GRE阅读机经真题有三百多篇，同时又存在多种版本的答案和解析，有些疑难题目让考生不知道听谁的，还有些版本的解析像是用谷歌翻译把同题目和选项翻译了一下。TD GRE教研组认为，GRE阅读的解析，可以讲得再清楚一点。
GRE不光有技巧，不光有快速解题法，GRE更加考察大家的逻辑硬实力，文字理解实打实的深度。良好的GRE备考应当在课堂上向老师学习快速解题法，取同取反逻辑的同时，课下扎扎实实的读懂每一句话。读懂，是一切技巧使用的前提。皮之不存，毛将焉附？
有感于此，我们尝试用比较长的时间，原创一个解析，力求做到超详细，大白话，包你懂。之前为大家推送了Passage 1 – Passage 76的解析，今天继续为大家推出GRE阅读Passage 77（长阅读）解析，这篇阅读一共有3段，共4道题，TD版超详细「包你懂」系列对此篇文章进行了清楚地解析。
GRE阅读真题第77段
Editors of major United States newsmagazines have been criticized for reducing the amount of space these magazines devote to international news. According to these editors, however, readers are wholly to blame for the reductions. After all, the editors point out, sales of magazine issues that prominently feature international news stories have declined significantly, and declining sales reflect declining reader interest. Yet even if true, this evidence does not refute the contention that editors should bear some of the blame for the reductions, unless editors are merely passive instruments responding to reader interest. And that is clearly an untenable view, since editors can often intensify reader interest in a news topic by giving it frequent coverage.

第一句：

白话版讲解：

第二句：

第四句：
Yet even if true, this evidence does not refute the contention that editors are merely passive instruments responding to reader interest.
白话版讲解：
但是，就算事实确实如此，这个证据也不能推翻这个观点，即编辑仅仅是被动地回应了读者的兴趣。
第五句：
And that is clearly an untenable view, since editors can often intensify reader interest in a news topic by giving it frequent coverage.
白话版讲解：
而这个观点显然站不住脚，因为编辑可以通过经常去报道某个特定的新闻话题，来提升读者对这个新闻话题感兴趣的程度。
这两句对编辑们的说法进行了反驳。说明文章整体论证过程支持的还是第一句话的观点，也就是杂志讨论国际新闻的篇幅减小了，主要责任在编辑身上。
GRE题目解析
1. In the argument as a whole, the two highlighted portions play which of the following roles?

题目一：在这个论证过程中，两个高亮的部分起了什么作用？
这道题的正确答案是 A。
整个论证过程支持的论点是第一句话，也就是编辑减少了杂志内容中，讨论国际新闻的篇幅。然后编辑对这个观点进行了辩解，认为读者才是导致国际新闻篇幅减少的原因，第一个高亮部分的内容就是支持这些编辑的说法的证据。随后，编辑的这些辩解被作者否定了，第二个高亮的部分就是去支持了作者对编辑的辩解进行的反驳，说明编辑的辩解是站不住脚的。
