Part 1 T-shirt

1.How often do you wear T-shirts?

I wear T-shirts a lot no matter what the season is. To be specific, I almost wear T-shirts everyday in summer. It is comfortable and cozy. I’m not a summer person. I mean, it is terrible after sweating. Plus, T-shirts are my favorite in winter. Say, dressed in a T-shirt with a down jacket is perfect because I won’t be frozen when I am on commute. Moreover, I can still stay cool while I’m working indoors.

2.Do you like T-shirts with pictures or prints?

Not exactly. I’m not fond of colorful pictures. My T-shirts are always in black or white with a few characters in English or Chinese. I feel like that the plainer the T-shirt is, the better it is. T-shirts with pictures are too fashionable. Plus, it has something to do with my personality. I’m a person of few words. Obviously, those T-shirts I wear show my characteristics. By observing my dressing style, others may have a basic understanding about me.

3.Do you think older people who wear T-shirts are fashionable?

I do believe that they are fashionable. It has nothing to do with the T-shirt itself, but it is related to their minds. As it is observed, old people tend to wear shirts since they are conservative. Plus, the elder prefer to wear clothes made by silk in summer instead of cotton. Some of them even believe that T-shirts are for young people specifically, so they are too old to follow a fashion. Therefore, wearing T-shirts with colorful pictures makes them different from other old people.

4.Would you buy T-shirts as souvenirs on vacation?

Definitely. When I traveled to the United States several years ago, I bought T-shirts for my family and close friends. When I went to the Disneyland in Orlando and visited the Statue of Liberty in New York, I bought T-shirts at both airports and tourist attractions as souvenirs. Those T-shirts were all in white with some characters, like the name of the city or state. They loved the T-shirts a lot and kept asking me about the journey.

Part 2

1.Describe your favorite place in your house where you can relax.

You should say:

Where it is

What it is like

What you enjoy doing there

And explain why you feel relaxed at this place

I would like to talk about a place where I can let my hair down in my house.

It is the balcony in my house that allows me to relax a little bit. Now, I live in a single house with only one bedroom and a balcony. The balcony faces south. Therefore, when it is sunny, there will be sufficient sunlight that spreads over the area.

It is cozy and relaxing. After I moved into the house, I changed the original decorations. Professionals were hired to paint the wall pink and light blue. It now looks soft and sweet. Also, I put up some paintings of my nephews and some photos with frames on the wall, including family gatherings, my lovely puppy, and my favorite singer. Besides, a carpet is laid on the floor with a round table and a cushion on it. I have tried my best to make it comfortable.

After a long day of work, I will watch movies there till midnight, sitting on the cushion and leaning against the wall. Since I’m a night owl, it is common for me to stay up late to enjoy movies with some snacks and beverages, like popcorn and mulled wine. If a lazy morning is available, I will just drop off to sleep there. The next morning, waken up by the sunshine, I’m just as fresh as a daisy. On weekends, if my friends are not busy with their businesses, I will invite them to join me. Not only do we play card games there, but we also dance to music at night. We will turn up the volume of my stereo and just sing along to the catchy melody at the top of our lungs. We all feel as pleased as punch.

In a word, the balcony provides me with a private place to unlock my emotions. When I’m down, I will sit there and look out of the window, spacing out for several hours. When it is a bad hair day, I will treat myself to a big meal there and do some recreational activities to add spice to my life. Anyway, it is the atmosphere that puts me on top of the world.

Part 3

1.Why is it difficult for some people to relax?

I guess there are multiple reasons. First, people are occupied with work, study and life. To be specific, young people who work for a large company hardly have time to hang out with their friends after a long day of working because they are all busy with their own businesses and even have to work overtime. Second, it is people’s personalities that make them hard to relax. Some of them tend to be stressful and anxious because of the uncertainty, being worried about the loans, children’s education and their parents.

2.What are the benefits of doing exercise?

To begin with, doing exercises is beneficial to people’s physical health. Nowadays, people are concerned about health because they suffer from health problems that are caused by poor eating habits and a lack of exercise. If they do some sports regularly, like playing badminton and jogging, their muscles will be built up so that they will feel energetic. Plus, doing exercises plays an important role to maintain mental health. People are allowed to clear their minds and get relaxed after sweating. In this way, they will be in a better mood.

3.Do people in your country exercise after work?

I feel like it depends. Young adults who lead a healthy life style tend to do some exercises after work, which is forced from habits. Besides, it is convenient for them to go to gym since many large organizations build a gym in office buildings for their employees. On the contrary, those who have children to take care of may not have sufficient leisure time after work to mind their own businesses, let alone doing some exercises. To be specific, they’re required to cook for their children and even supervise them.

4.What is the place where people spend most of their time in their home?

I guess it is the bedroom. When people go back home after work, all they wanna do is to take a break. I mean, lying on the bed and going through TikTok to enjoy some funny videos could be a good choice for many people. Plus, many young people now share a house with others, so they tend to stay in their own bedrooms to protect their privacy. I mean, even though they have roommates, they are not familiar with each other. Spending time alone in the bedroom is less likely to lead to conflicts.

注释:

be occupied with:忙于

work overtime:加班

poor eating habits:不良的饮食习惯

clear mind:放空

forced from habits:习惯使然

let alone:更不用说
