曾有同学和我说：老师，ACT阅读so easy！根据题目关键词，我能很快回文章里找到答案或者我多想想，排除一下，就能猜出来个大概！

我：同学你too naive….

虽然ACT不像SAT那样出单独的词汇题（words in context），但：

我们得在8分多钟内做完一篇文章，如此紧凑的时间，很多同学文章都读不完，更别提要去“看题+回文章里找答案了”；如果单词还不熟悉，就会极大拖慢阅读速度。

生词难词，有时候不在文章里出现，而在题目题干和选项中出现，还有的时候会在图表里附带的文字中出现；

相信你看到现在头都大了：一个普普通通的阅读，为什么那么多套路，一点都不真诚！

Standing at the side of the city editor’s desk hewould deliver himself of this information, looking mild and limply romantic. It always proved to be a bombshell.

According to the narrator of Passage, Mac would occasionally appear in the front office in order to:

这道题问“Mac”（不是你家电脑）出现在办公室的目的，贴心的TD帮你定位到原文中的这一段，可以看到这个片段的最后一句，是为了“ Standing at the side of the city editor’s desk hewould deliver himself of this information, looking mild and limply romantic. It always proved to be a bombshell.” ——给编辑传递信息的（deliver himself of this information + a bombshell）。

那么在这里，我们得首先明确：

1）deliver himself of this information: share or communicate the information

2）bombshell: an event or a piece of news which is unexpected

只有明白这两个关键词，才能更快定位到I选项里的“share information”+“newsworthy”。

当然，有同学会对选项里的一些生词存在疑惑，比如什么事chastise啦，什么是supervise啦。我们来一起翻译一下4个选项：

Practice 2

这一段（句）话里有很多生词，比如inept, validation, respite等。所以，虽然段落很短，但是因为这些生词，大多数同学在读的时候会直接间歇性失忆跳过这句话（微笑脸）。那我们来一起翻译一下：我是一个笨拙的孩子，寻找那些宁静时刻，在那里我会找到成人的认可，或至少能从无尽的不确定中得到喘息。

很明显，可以对应上A选项。

这时候又有同学说了：老师！A选项里的alleviate是什么意思？inadequacy又是什么意思？就你们这个词汇量，真的得认真背背真题词汇了。来翻译一下4个选项：

A. 故事的叙述者寻找稀少的时刻，那时她生活中的成年人能够减轻她的不足感和困惑。

B. 故事的叙述者对生活中的成年人越来越生气，因为他们拒绝回答她的问题。

C. 故事的叙述者对成年人提供的众多但相互矛盾的解释感到越来越困惑。

D. 故事的叙述者寻找那些她觉得能够摆脱持续成人监督的时刻。

原文中的作者有，endless uncertainty+inept child，对应上了A选项里的inadequacy and confusion；原文中的searching for those moments of calm when I would find adult validation对应A里的 looked for rare moments when adults in her life 。
