一、话题一览
托福独立口语有这样一类话题，包罗万象，题目通常会涉及生活中个人选择或者偏好。比如：
喜欢在大城市生活还是在小城市生活？
喜欢发短信还是打电话？
喜欢读电子书还是纸质书？
喜欢同时完成多个任务还是只完成一个？
喜欢把旧的东西留着还是处理掉？
二、常用思路及语料
虽然这类话题题目涉猎范围之广，但是答题的思路却不复杂，因为做任何事情都需要花费一定的时间、金钱或精力，所以面对这些题目就有了大家口中所谓的“万能理由”，那么这些理由我们可以用的好吗？接下来就一起来看看吧～
👉save time/time-saving vs waste time/time-consuming
原因解释：I’m a high school student and I’m busy with my study. For example, I have to squeeze time for accomplishing the assignment, writing essays, and even preparing for TOEFL test, which leaves me with a very tight schedule. Therefore, I can’t spend that much time on xxx.
结果分析：I am able to make use of the time to do…（这里一般指的就是更有意义的事情，或者是根据题目具体分析）
👉save money/cheap vs waste money/expensive
原因解释：I’m a high school student and I have no income. Now, I financially depend on my parents to pay for my tuition fee and daily expenses. Therefore, I’d better not waste money on unnecessary things like xxx to release my parent’s financial burden.
结果分析：I can take advantage of the money to do… （这里一般指的就是更有价值的东西，或者是根据题目具体分析）
👉mental health/physical health
原因解释：Due to the pandemic, I have to take classes online and keep staring at the computer for a long time. Now I suffer from the shortsightedness and neck problems. Plus, I’m really stressed out and sometimes I just feel depressed or anxious because of the lockdown.
结果分析：If I can do exercise frequently, I will build up my muscles, enhance the immunity and become strong enough against the virus. Besides, It will help me relax, so that I will be in a better mood and motivated to lead my life with confidence.
👉energetic/exhuasted
原因解释：It requires great effort to do…, causing mental fatigue. I need to make great effort to do…, feeling exhausted. For example，I‘m a high school student and I’m always swamped with all kinds of assignments, papers and exams, and there are deadlines wherever I turn.
结果分析：If I can…, I don’t have to… For me, playing basketball provides me with a chance to relax. The temporary escape from the reality helps me let go of all the stress in my life.
✨举个栗子：Which do you prefer：go to the gym everyday or only when you are free? (20220827)
分析：题目问我们更喜欢每天都去健身房还是在更愿意选择在空闲的时间去健身房，其实也就是在问去健身房的频率。这样的题目就很适合联系上面提到的语料来作答，毕竟去健身房耗时又耗力呀（累…；当然，去健身房还要锻炼身体，所以和健康也有关系～
如果选择只在闲暇时间去的话，可以从这两个角度思考～
选择only free：
理由1: have no time
理由2: too exhausted
【Sample 1】
I prefer to go to the gym only when I am free. To begin with, I have no time because I’m a high school student and I’m really busy with my study. For example, I have to squeeze time for accomplishing the assignment, writing essays, and even preparing for TOEFL test, which leaves me with a very tight schedule. Therefore, I can’t spend that much time on it. You know, study is always the top priority for me. Plus, I don’t believe it is necessary to go to gym everyday, because it can easily cause fatigue. You know， running 5 kilometers everyday or doing body-building exercises everyday will further lead to harms to my knees and ankles, which will definitely have a negative effect on my physical health in the long run.
如果选择每天都去的话，可以从这两个角度思考～
选择everyday：
理由1: good for physical health
理由2: conducive to mental health
【Sample 2】
I prefer to go to the gym everyday. To begin with, if I can do exercise frequently, I will easily build my muscles up, strengthen my immune system and become strong enough against the virus. You know, due to the pandemic, I have to take classes online and keep staring at the computer for almost 5 to 6 hours everyday. Now I suffer from severe neck problems. Therefore, I need some stretch exercise. Besides, doing sports will help me relax so that I will be in a good mood and motivated to lead my life with confidence. Because of the lockdown, sometimes I just feel depressed and anxious. If I could go to gym for yoga and meditation everyday, I would feel peaceful and refreshed.
当然啦，有的题目也可以根据具体情况具体分析，分别从题干中的两个选项或两种情况入手～也就是常说的it depends
✨举个栗子: Some people prefer to throw away old things, such as old books or old newspaper. Others like to keep the old things. Which one do you prefer? Please explain why and use specific details and examples to support your answer. (20190309)
分析：题目考察的是对于旧东西的处理方式，有的人喜欢把它们扔掉，有的人则喜欢留下来。题目中关于旧东西有做简单列举，比如说旧书旧报纸，但是大家不要局限于此哦，old things还是包含很多东西的，比如说旧手机，旧玩具等等～所以我们就可以根据不同的物品类型来做决定是不是要断舍离～
选择：it depends on what kind of old things
a.useless–old newspaper+books–throw away
b.useful+expensive–electronic devices–keep
c.sentimental meaning–gift from grandparents/best friend–keep
除此之外，很多时候个人的选择也都与个人的性格紧密相关，同学们也可以把personality or personal feelings当作是答题的理由来补充思路～

分析：题目问我们更愿意自己组织活动还是参与活动，其实也就是在问我们更喜欢扮演的角色是什么～这个时候我们除了可以考虑到组织活动耗时耗力还费钱之外，还可以把自己的性格和题目练习在一起呀～比如说社牛可以作为organizer，社恐就可以作为participant～
选择：attend
理由1: shy/social phobia
理由2: hygienic
